Are You Sacrificing the Future to Survive the Present?
Growing up in a traumatic environment forces the brain into survival mode. I know this one all too well. Plans for the future become irrelevant when your safety depends on the ever-changing moods of those around you. For example, as a child, you may have felt the sting of any plans you made or were promised because stability was never guaranteed. I remember waiting at home by myself for my mom and dad (a narcissistic and alcoholic) to come home from the nights they would spend in the bar.
Then I was afraid that the house would burn down because of their smoking.
Two X relationships were mirrors of my childhood. They had me walking on eggshells, waiting for the other shoe to drop, waiting for the promises that always ended up broken. In these moments, the brain learned to protect, shifting from planning to mere survival. Even now, as an adult, you may find your nervous system on high alert, constantly bracing for threats and leaving little room to envision or build a secure, joyful future.
This state manifests physiologically. The body exists in two modes: catabolic (breaking down, fighting, or fleeing) or anabolic (rebuilding and growing). Constant exposure to stress locks you into a catabolic state, draining your energy reserves and making genuine relaxation feel out of reach. Your life becomes a series of reactions to external pressures, with motivation driven by fear of failure rather than personal desire.
But here’s the hope: transforming your limited version of yourself is possible. By addressing these ingrained survival patterns, you can rewire your brain, shift out of crisis mode, and reclaim your ability to dream, plan, and thrive.
Using specialized kinesiology, touch for health, and psych k plus other things in my menu I assist people into present day by balancing the sympathetic and para-sympathetic nervous systems. Only then can we work on the future and this means regressing to what age this began and then whether it is people places or things affecting them and then canceling the negative effects on their minds body and souls.
And so NOW ... Imagine moving through life no longer bound by external stressors but guided by an internal compass that leads to growth and fulfillment. And so ... is it time to stop merely surviving and start living by transforming the limited version of yourself?
