Leaning In

Over the last four years, my life has been a series of trials and transformations. Each challenge - - whether personal, professional, or unexpected - - has forced me to face myself on a deeper level. But this isn’t the first time I’ve had to rebuild. Many years ago, my divorce became a defining moment in my life, marking the beginning of a journey toward self-reliance and inner strength.

In moments like these, when the familiar slips away and life demands you to stand alone, you discover a truth that’s both humbling and empowering: being alone isn’t a weakness - -it’s an opportunity to reconnect with who you truly are.

Here’s what I’ve learned and what I hope might resonate with you:

1. Self-Reliance Is a Superpower

There are seasons in life when you have to rely on yourself completely. These are the times when you learn how strong, capable, and resourceful you really are. It’s not always easy, but self-reliance builds a foundation of confidence that no one can take away from you.

When I faced my divorce, I had to release what society told me I should want - - a partnership that looked “normal” on the outside but wasn’t aligned with my truth. Walking away was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made, but it was also the most liberating.

2. Releasing What No Longer Serves You

It’s empowering to let go of what’s considered “normal” when it doesn’t serve your growth. What seemed right for you in the past might not be right for you anymore, and that’s okay. Growth requires letting go of outdated versions of yourself and making space for something new.

Ask yourself: What am I holding onto that no longer aligns with who I’m becoming?

3. Turn Inward and Be Present with Yourself

When life feels uncertain, it’s tempting to look outward for answers. But the most valuable guidance often comes from within. Taking time to sit with yourself, reflect on your journey, and listen to that quiet inner voice can bring clarity and peace.

During my toughest times, I found grounding by simply being present with myself - - journaling, meditating, or even walking in nature. These small moments helped me connect to the deeper parts of myself, the parts that always knew the way forward.

4. Reflect on What Shaped You

Every experience in your life, especially the challenging ones, plays a role in shaping who you are. Take time to reflect on the pivotal moments that have brought you here. What have they taught you? How have they strengthened you?

The trials of the last four years have shown me that even in the darkest moments, there’s always something to learn, always a new strength to uncover.

5. Expand with Confidence

Self-reliance doesn’t mean doing everything on your own forever. It means knowing that you have the inner resources to face anything life brings your way. When you trust yourself, you can expand your horizons with confidence, embracing new opportunities and challenges with an open heart.

Life isn’t always about having all the answers - - it’s about trusting yourself to figure it out as you go. And for me that means leaning into my higher power for guidance.

My Invitation to You If you’re in a season of change, uncertainty, or solitude, know this: you are more resilient than you realize. Use this time to connect with yourself, reflect on what truly matters, and trust the process of becoming.

Sometimes, the greatest transformations happen in the quiet moments when you’re simply sitting with yourself, listening to your inner wisdom.

Release what no longer serves you. Trust your strength. And step forward with courage and clarity.
